The Christmas season brings so many things to mind for me. I remember days long ago with my mother in a small kitchen in a tiny town, preparing gifts for others. I remember riding in a Model A car to deliver a Christmas ham for a man who helped my father and grandfather a good bit. The memory glimpses of dressing up in choir robes with big big bows on the front as we sang a song or three for the congregation. Later years standing in a live nativity scene outside our small town church.
Christmas memories for me are rich with family gatherings and food. I hope this Christmas that you and yours are taking time to gather, to enjoy the moments you share together. Our family is apart this Christmas, Les is in Afghanistan, the older children in Oklahoma. We gathered in early December when Les was home, I hope you find a way to make your Christmas gatherings work too, whether it is with friends, coworkers, family or chosen family. This week so many of you will be on the road, blessings to you and yours as you travel.
Christmas isn’t about gathering on this day or that, its about finding time together to celebrate the Child who came to save us all.
xoxo
