There are some days you just need to say “yes M’am!” to a daughter who so loves to be near you. My eleven year old dearheart just loves to have a Mom and Me day. Usually our budget is short, time is dear, but every now and then we just take an ordinary day and make it extraordinary. Today was one of those days. We drove to Huntsville, enjoyed seeing the Nasa missiles, drove on to Sam’s and bought fruit in a large quanity “Pineapple mom, pleeeassse?” “of course!”, Apples, Pears, Oranges Bananas too…”yes yes yes and yes!” I love seeing that bright eyed smile. For $28 she had her dream today, buying fruit and berries to her hearts content…
We went to the mall and she picked out a shirt for each of her brothers from American Eagle. They will so be impressed that sister thought of them, I am so impressed she thought of how to treat them each for under $21 together!
We got her a yogurt shake from Steak and Shake (notice I said got her, not us…whew are those things high!) and then we listened to her favorite CD’s in the van home. She was so excited to have seen all the things in the mall. Remember, we just came from rural RURAL area of Arkansas, so the city itself is a big deal to her.
At home, she then wanted to take a bubble bath in Mom’s bath. “yes” again! When she got out I had toenail polish ready and a seat to treat her to it. I had a yogurt and some of her fruit on a tray for her…with a flower from the yard and my fluffy robe and towel…Such big girl dreams our little one has….her eyes lite up as she realized it was for her as I did her toes and hugged her dry.
Growing into lovely…..taking time, making time to make others special times come true…..ah, I wish I was better at making todays happen…but then again, that’s why this is “Growing into Lovely” not grown there already!
Be Blessed
