This weekend we had made plans to hear a friend of ours speak in Oklahoma, however life had other plans. First our daughter had a tough asthma week, then this morning son2 joined the ranks of the unwell. It didn’t help that I had a jaw tooth split in two on Thursday.
Home.
It is a great place to be when you and your loved ones don’t feel well. Our crew like traditional fixes for difficult days…so the chicken is cooking for homemade chicken noodle soup and homemade vegetable is in the next pot to it….cornbread to come. My guys are quilt folks, they each have their own quilt that they return to on difficult days….even the sixteen year old prefers me to find his quilt and bring it to him when he feels bad.
I am thankful for days like this. Thankful that I have a life that allows me to put family first on days they need me, thankful that we, as a family, have the option to put family first.
It has been a busy week, and I’ve had to learn over and over that beginning to heal is NOT the same as healed. I still want to do too much too quickly and have specific reminders when I go over the line of what my eyes are ready for. One might think I would figure it out after the first , oh say, eight weeks now?
And so we are nearing the end of October and I haven’t agreed that its even October yet….so I will try to spend some of the weekend making our home more seasonally appropriate and enjoy the cooler fall weather.
God is good and we are blessed!
Sweetie
