A good while ago I wrote about my journey to leaving the princesshood of my childhood as my daughter was born and entering into Queen Motherhood….

my friend’s beautiful young adult Samantha (Sami) corrected me last July to say I was not the Queen Mother of my friends and joys, but the Queen Mum. No one needs anotoher mother in their lives, but everyone needs a mum to love on them and help them grow. Being the very correct young lady she is, I listened….and it turns out that she is right. God has given me the opportunity to love from behind the castles of their lives, many beautiful princesses and queens, my life is rich with all the colors and joys that are present in a life lived in companionship and adoration of God. My original thoughts on being the Queen Mum are still correct today….I have travelled many miles in my life, but find at this junction of being 44, a mom, step mum, and now mum in law…..that indeed a throne would be entirely too cumberasome to climb upon most days. I prefer to live my life helping in the garden of growing people….enjoying each one’s beauty and splendor….and helping them remove those leaves that they might need to let go of to become the beautiful healthy beings God made them to be!
The next time you are seeing the beauty of God’s creations as spring burst through the ground and bulbs burst through the soil, think of all the effort that blooming forth in beauty that precious flower has gone through….and realize that the work ahead of you indeed allows yourself to bloom just as beautifully year after year!
God is good!
