Our new home is in a suburban neighborhood. While its about 16 years old, its about 100 years too young for my personal taste…..I look back at my 100 year old Sears Roebuck home in our old rural town and I think, its time to “find” my bedroom. The bedroom in our new smaller home is a very different configuration, it has a 14 x 14 squared, raised ceiling portion with an additional 6 x 9 or so portion at the end with a french door to the side to lead to our deck. Currently it is a very blah room, Ralph Lauren’s linen walls and hardwood floors and nothing special in between. My homes are never grand upon arrival, but I love to make them home with things of comfort and joy to us.
I had grown tired of the toile, but you know, truth is, I miss it. I love its crispness in the spring and summer…Darker and richer colors in the fall and winter to warm the room up, so I see tomorrow that there just may be yet a new idea for that old vertical stripe bolt of material I so long ago tea stained 50 yds of for drapes in the old house.
Growing into Lovely……and learning to look back to create forward somedays….
