When one is in a full out home renovation engaging the joy is a choice. Our little brown house began in February with a washroom with full access to the outside dirt floor, a kitchen that didn’t work, and multiple walls with holes to the outside so squirrels came and went at leisure. Fast forward to Easter Sunday and we had 14 folks over for a “just as we are” Easter dinner. My friends, it is about engaging the joy. No sink in the kitchen yet? Two washtubs and be thankful for the stove that IS in to heat up the boiling water for dishes. A missing bedroom? No issue, hotel for guests are right down the street. Yard still a mess for the construction going on? Buy ferns and pretty flowers and go with it. This is the ONLY 2014 Easter I had to work with, so it was time to engage the joy! I am delighted to say not one meltdown, not one tear except in missing my Dad who died at Christmas, and a cup that was overflowing with joy to have my grown children and their children home for Easter.
