Growing Into Lovely

This weekend was Easter…..Easter in my childhood involved everyone in fresh new clothes, a linen tablecloth luncheon after church and family. This year we were not near family for the Easter weekend and funds were low. My Dh gave me a brilliant gift in that he took upholstery material I owned and made a 104″ tablecloth for our 42 inch round table so that it had a floor length skirt out of a beautiful sage material. I have only wanted one for about 25 years now! The thoughtfulness of him realizing such a thing would allow me to have a “special” table for our first Easter alone without family was a blessing to me. That creativity sparked me finding a piece of material from last summer and actually making my daughter a pair of capris for her Easter hunt (her last childhood one at our church) with a matching headband. You see, my Mom sewed clothes, not me. I would wake up Easter morning to a new dress usually sewn as a surprise in the night freshly hanging on my door….it was an oh so loved feeling…. I dream of it, doing the same for my daughter, from time to time prepare and buy material for it, but I never risked sewing to fit someone. I love to create linens, tablecloths, curtains, napkins, but clothes were too risky for me. I decided to risk feeling great about an outfit for Easter like my Mom did for me. I was so silly….the pattern was easier than alot of the things I make and before it was done I made me a skirt to match her capris without a pattern. Growing into Lovely….another milestone ….stepping into the me I want to be…the one who does sew an Easter outfit for a beloved daughter….who allows that daughter to have me matching as is her dream, who takes the risk of failing …..God is not a God who wants us afraid….but to trust that He doesn’t give us dreams we cannot fulfill with His help.
Its not about the capris really….its about making the decisions to live the life you dream of, you envision, instead of letting it go past you…….its seizing the chances we are so blessed to have and celebrating the life we’ve been given…..taking the time to do the dream not just lay it aside.

The Easter is about Resurrection of our Christ…..and about His taking away the failures and sins that keep us from living in the Eden of His love and life for us. This is the time, this is the day, to learn to live in His lovely plan for our lives..

These moments, dreams, and thoughts of lovely are indeed God given…and it is my daily walk to walk in the peace of knowing I am following those guidances….
