Thankful this morning for all the individuals who will step up to the plate to be “fathers” for others in need. Thankful for those who see the lawns needing mowed, the hands held, the bats and gloves adjusted, the tosses thrown. Thankful this morning for substitute fathers, for single moms, foster parents, neighbors, bosses, church folks, coaches, and strangers who take the time to nurture and father others, to encourage human spirits, to mentor young minds and hearts, to walk a path and discipline new walks…thankful this Father’s Day for hearts that recognize that to father others has little to do with who they birthed and everything to do with birthing what is good, empowering and what will be beneficial to be steadfast in others.
I am thankful for my husband Les in my life. He is all of those things and more. What a blessing.
