Day Three
Pursuing peace means taking time to notice what brings you unrest. Sometimes we are so involved in our routines and daily grind that we do not realize what actions we take that contribute to our stress load. One of the “aha” moments for my personal life was when I realized that my child who often left his lunch as a small child would not go hungry at school if I simply kept a balance in his lunch account, a simple thing, but something that gave me peace when I worked 31 miles away as a single mom. What can you do to provide comfort for your day? Is it a ziplock of your favorite coffee in the freezer for the day you unexpectedly run out of coffee? Is it setting a time to read your Bible before a stressful morning? Is it realizing when stress happens every day or week and looking more closely at what is causing it? This week pursuing peace means taking out 5 each day to think through what was calm and what caused stress in my daily life, not intending to solve those issues, just to notice them.
