We’re beginning week five with my new normal of limiting vision. The great news is that last week after a couple of procedures I was able to focus more moments of the day, the downside, is the procedures keep us on the every hour around the clock dosage and drops routine longer. The short version is my corneas are not healing/reforming, so they thought resurfacing them might speed the process as the cells rebuildup over hte damaged areas.
We’re to the place now the doctor says is “more dangerous” because I can see a little more throughout the day I might try to do more, but my eyes are open wounds, so anything blowing into them, blowing across them, or having contact through splashing is a risk…and yet since I can “see ” more now I am more likely to open oven doors (air change risk) or be near a hot pan (steam lift risk and splashing) and such things….it pretty well hampers one’s normal routines at home or going out. Three weeks on this run then they make more serious decisions about what to do next. ugh.
We did go out as a family to see Madison compete in the Celebration Dog Show in Priceville Sunday afternoon. Going “out” is not my favorite concept right now, it usually involves pain and discomfort but Madison had her heart set on it and I was determined. She won 2nd place in Tricks and 3rd place Grand Champion Small Dog overall. She was delighted and so were we, though I suspect the crowd thought the mother in the dark sunglasses was a bit much. She won two big ribbons and more importantly to her, dinner out with Dad for steak and Shake.
Today we’re tackling laundry and working on keeping the hour on the hour medication routine going.
I am reminded in this experience that so much of what we are daily we take completely for granted….we wake up without pain without being thankful….we see our children’s faces without being thankful…we have dirty clothes to care for..without being appreciative of the abundance they represent….
I am thankful for all our blessings today and trying so very hard not to take forgranted all the good that is happening!
Sweetie
