There were many many years I went waay out of budget for Christmas for gifts, usually for those outside of our family. The last few years I have thought about the things that meant something to me personally of the gifts I’ve received through the years, and I challenge you to come up with your top 10 gifts received too….that meant something to you.
1. China gifts of the pattern I received on my wedding day to complete our set (for we use it at holidays and special family days and I know that it completes things that sat on my mother’s table when I was young) (5-10 years ago)
2. The softest, comfy-est pajamas ever that were so pretty from Dh with booties to match….every time I put them on on cold days I know he choose them with care. (5 years ago)
3. The Tom Tom my husband bought me last year, never was a gift less welcomed and more appreciated, we had just moved and I so needed it in my vision impaired world to get around.
4. A Christmas tree made from rice krispie treats from a student, it was made of stars piled high and rotated to make the tree and then packaged with cellophane….she took the time and it showed! (7 years ago)
5. Pearls added to a necklace each year from my grandmother growing up. (30 years ago)
6. A Burge’s ham and turkey on Christmas from a beloved smokehouse in Arkansas from family members who knew it might be a might much for us to buy one. (they are pricey) (4 years ago)
7. A Christmas quilt my mother found for me for a wall hanging, simple but oh so meaningful. (28 years ago)
8. The many Christmas dresses my mother made even unto adulthood. (30 years ago)
9. My Charlie Brown Christmas album….oh how I have loved this present, its about worn out from over and over playing, I cannot believe I didn’t buy it sooner! (1 year ago)
10. A Manhattan Steamroller CD from a landlord when I was a grad student, it simply has made my Christmas season for over eighteen years now….little did the Professor know how much it has meant. (18 years ago)
