A long time ago I worked as a writer for Tyson Foods one year when my daughter was very small. This was an unexpected change from teaching and yet it was a year to remember. One of my friends for lunch was a lady named Beth Duley. We had children in the same age group and definately were retooling ourselves from our careers and morphing into new professional careers. I wrote a Nursing Manual for all of Tyson foods that year….well, ghostwrote with Nurse Mary Bunkers, at the time a glorified contract writer…in reality a paid education in corporate writing ….what an experience for a never been in corporate world girl. It was so worth the time invested there that year. Beth and I ate at Jose’s at least once a week during that time, our friendship has never waivered…tonight my other friends took me back to Jose’s to say goodbye since I’m leaving the area here tomorrow…my friends from the U of A, Mary Kay, and even the Walton Family Foundation all came by to say “good to see you” how kind of them all! The dude at the end is Tracy….the best waiter for keeping up with all of us! Jefferson school picture was where I was Arkansas’ first dually certified learning disabled teacher, elementary education, and gifted education specialist serving all three populations in the same classroom legally helping minimally disabled children to remain with their peers while being served by a dually certified teacher…with the assistance of an education cohort or aide to assist.
