Happy Monday! It’s already the first Monday of 2020! I keep looking at the date and thinking 2002 was yesterday. How about you?
Marvelous Mondays are the day I focus on #15MinuteMiracles, the intention of setting a timer for 15 minutes and only focusing on what can be done in 15 minutes then celebrating the heck out of it when the timer goes off. I first focused this only on decluttering the house or the office. My mind wants to believe it takes 15 years to clear off the counter and load the dishwasher, but the timer shows me every time that at the very worst it takes 30 minutes and usually I have more than simply loading the dishwasher and washing the big items in less than 15 minutes.
Talk about encouraging! Who doesn’t like a cleaner environment? It’s my hardest thing (homekeeping) The key for me is to really focus only in one area for that 15 minutes or one task. To spice it up I take before and after pictures to remind myself it mattered. Some of us share them on Sweetieland at facebook to cheer each other on.
Are you settling in your new year? This year I’m starting slower, planning more pauses in the day and its already a much lovelier pace. The work I do hasn’t slowed down, nor the chores at home gone on vacation, but I’m much more focused on recognizing my time is precious and it has to be spent the way I’m willing to spend my life. Too often I said yes to getting involved in projects and processes that were not only mine, but were not something I wanted to do.
What matters to you this season of your life? Our children are adults now, so my focus is more on re-coupling and kindling my desires for this season of life. To re examine the choices I make and the motivations behind them. Are our habits supporting a life I want to live?
I’m turning on Ted talks and online sermons and music more and mindless Netflix less. There’s nothing wrong with movies, we surely enjoy them, but as a solopreneur, I want to be intentional about mindset, about learning, about perspective, so one of the ways I do that is to turn on the Ted talks, not simply a feel good movie every time.
Today’s a bit slower paced for we were in Lexington, KY this weekend for a rally where one of our speaker clients was keynoting. Feller and I roadtripped in the car together to have some couple time enroute, so today is a recovery day as well as a writing day. I’ll take a break at 10 central to do an hour of #15minutemiracles in the house.
My first #15minutemiracle will be to go through the closet as winter approaches and remove clothes that don’t fit, aren’t my favorites or simply out of style. I’ll set the timer, set a goal and at the end of 15 minutes stop and celebrate. Will you join me? I’ll be posting at http://facebook.com/sweetieland if you want to join us!
Have a great Monday!
