As I sit here this morning at my office desk I hear birds calling to one another, a cricket still chirping, and every now and then the scurrying of our two small dogs playing chase across the deck, down the stairs and round the drive and back again.
Monday’s are my quiet morning. I get the boys off to school and work then quietly enjoy from 7:30 to 8 as my own time. Daughter is still sleeping at this point. Often it is a time I use for me….to quietly ready my Bible, or have coffee on the deck, or walk quietly around the house picking up some specific chore in each room. A nice time.
The rest of the week seems hurried and harried, but Monday mornings are not…..if I can help it. Even if I work on writing Monday mornings its more on my own schedule, than the hard and fast she’s at her desk by such and such that I do on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Monday’s are home blessing days….I try to find 3 hours, 15 minutes at a time, to for once, get the house somewhat once overed…..I put on my finest house staff attitude and work on polishing it and getting it together as M’adam would wish it to be….on the good days, I take off my staff apron at noon and enjoy being M’adam again for the afternoon while I tutor our youngest as we homeschool together….on the tougher days…well, the beloved child gets to do schooling in a very unorganized kitchen that didn’t quite get done.
Fall is creeping into Alabama, though most days are still hot in the afternoons….I am thankful for Fall…almost a year since we arrived in this foreign place….and a year of growth and change for alll of us. Somethings are drying up and falling away and yet other things are arriving in glorious color and beauty as even the trees bare themselves of their coverings….and let go of that which is not important….so that they too can grow and produce again in spring.
God is good……
Sweetie
