Monday’s have a freshness about them other days do not in my world. Holiday Mondays are a bit harder to get excited about, but then again, it is a quiet one, so much progress can be made on a current project. The snow outside is still with me, and the children are still in Arkansas. This morning calls for extraordinary care of me, do you have those days?
Sometimes the very first person you have to remind yourself to take care of is you. I find too often that in the hustle and bustle of caring for so many people I choose to love, I forget to love on me! This morning I will take time to set the breakfast table well, use the cups and saucers I enjoy and toast the bagel just so….you see its my favorite breakfast but I rarely prepared it for me….no one else in our home enjoys it.
Part of what I have learned this year is that it takes loving me first to be able to balance the giving I do. It may not mean expensive trips or things, but simply taking the time to show myself that I too am worth it. It is the simple joys that work for me…a cardinal out my window, a sleeping pup near the fire, the aroma of coffee as I grind it….a simple joy all of them.
After all aren’t you the one that God loved too? Take care of you!
