Friends and audiences ask why did I leave life as a public school educator and EDU instructor to come home to homeschool. I was a public school teacher, and am still a professional educator, and have been for many years. For over two decades I was daily in the public school classroom. My experience with homeschoolers was much like public and private school school teachers I have known…varied. Educators are individuals, there is not way to lump one group in some pile with others, there are good, difficult, inspiring, and disgusting ones in all groups near as I can tell. Our journey into homeschooling began when we had a child who was not thriving in a public school environment. We liked the school, we enjoyed her experiences in Pk, K, and first grade, but by second grade we knew our child wasn’t succeeding to her abilities there. Our child is now a ninth grader, we’ve had seven years experience homeschooling. These posts are randomly scheduled to share as we find, experience, or learn new things to share.
