I read of those women, the ones who accomplish so much more in a day than I’ll imagine to……but today I woke up with the rain pouring softly outside, a freezer full of things that could be made and a desire to do something new.
Ten pounds of chicken stewed, sixty rolls baked, 2 gallons of vegetable soup, 4 gallons of chicken stock and one loaf of cornbread later I was amazed to see that there was alot of things made well from scratch on my counter tops and knew that those silly girls I read about, have something going on….
It felt good to know that some nights I’ll simply have to heat up chicken and dumplin makings and make the dumplins, heat up the chicken and stuffing casserole, thaw the already cooked chicken for salads or for other dishes, and know that with very little effort, my family will have wholesome good tasting food and the best part is knowing that I did it because I want them to enjoy homemade.
It didn’t take long, I did fun things while other things cooked, the mess wasn’t overwhelming…and most of all, the kids had that “my mom loves me” look when we had dinner tonight.
