This week our youngest and I are on a roadtrip to my childhood home. I love driving the six hundred miles, it wouldn’t matter much if I didn’t, for flying in is still an adventure which leaves you one hundred miles from the destination without rental car possibilities…and so we drive. I always imagine that Madi and I are driving in this
but the truth is we need the CRV because we always, and I mean ALWAYS find enough treasures on roadside sales and friends old barns to bring back a load of finds….
Folks love to say Alabama is deep south country, but they haven’t got a clue where I am from. The world view is hicks and hillbillies, but the reality is a beautiful space where families have lived on the same land over a hundred years. The richness of community still exists and folks take care of one another.
I’m headed home.
