I love thrifting. R e a l l y love thrifting. Lucky for me my husband does too. I enjoy hearing a deep South girl at home in Arkansas say “I can make a dolla hollar” but truthfully I can squeal with delight when a treasure is found….takes me back to days of fishing with my extremely ladylike Aunt Jean Stott, who was always chic and fashionable and oh so professional…unless she was fishing where she would scream like a girl, thrilled to have a catfish on the line.
Today was a special treat. Dh and I went to a mission store near us. We were searching for specifics…always a good plan when too much is a bargain…and there it was….an Elizabeth knee length skirt….in khaki…brand new….my blood started getting faster….and oooooooooohhhhhh YES!!! In MY size! I love fitted clothes, casual is hard for me, and for two years I have searched for THIS skirt…tailored yet casual, perfect for spring errands and my at home uniform look of a 3/4 length sleeve shirt over a sleeveless sweater…with this skirt…at least in my dreams…Its $72 price at Dillards, even $54 on sale was NOT on my preferred price list, so today, $5.99 my wishes came true. Could.not.wait. to get home to make sure it fit but I’m a telling you, it was worth the wait…..couldn’t have been better! The best part? When I got to the checkout, the lady said, this is 1/2 price, everything is the last day of the month!
Almost all my “best” in my home are garage sale finds, side of the road someone gave up ons….and I treasure them in my home, not only because they represent how God gives me often things others don’t see value in….like my own story of how Les saw value in me when others did not…..there is beauty often locked away underneath layers of misguided paint or other things simply need a freshening up……I love that about my home, we love on people here, and things too….you don’t have to worry about your blemishes, for with love, all things become new.
Wahoo…a two year wish granted and a homemade breakfast of fried eggs and bacon served by my Dh this morning on a pretty plate….this is a blessed life!
