We did indeed get Chaser home on Saturday from his extended duck stay in Arkansas. We all had a good time on the road, planning to go to a wonderful smoked steakhouse in Corinth, but ended up in a Ryans when it wasn’t open until dinner. I believe Ryan’s made no profit on the buffet with son2 eating…but a good time was had by all.
The boys wasted no time hitting the Alabama woods for more hunting and in fact are out in the woods before church this day…..Madison and I choose to sleep in and enjoy the quiet then we’ll meet up at Sunday school.
The kitchen does not qualify for flylady or Martha this morning…..chicken and dumplins went well for all, but the mom did not go deal with the aftermath….somehow I’m content to clean it first thing in the morning before they are up, but not at dinner when I can spend time with them….go figure.
The bed merry go round has worked well. I put our full antique bed in Chaser’s room, sold his futon/bunk bed, which paid for our new Antique french bed that matches my furniture in our room. The nicest thing was when we picked up the french provencial bed the man gave us a new from Sam’s mattress set, which was the next thing on my “save up your pennies for it” list….go God! New in plastic and never used!
Now honey has a new painting gig to make the new old bed look like the rest of our furniture he refinished last summer.
I’m getting excited about the back yard this year. Last year I was simply too overwhelmed to think on dealing with its unplantedness….and the deck’s unpaintedness…..a former owner took a perfectly good back yard and built a 24 x 24 ode to his Corvette…and while the building is much nicer than most double garages, its ahem, a double garage slap in the middle of what was already a smallish back yard…..and then the man apparently preferred concrete to grass, so he used 1/3 of the space left to make concrete runways for his car…..I won’t begin to ponder why.
Menwhile, we planted everblooming roses last year near the deck and I brought home 3 everyblooming hot pink bushes from Arkansas and we’ve planted a large aount of bulbs in the winter near the back fence, surely we can find some topsoil and grass seed this year to go with our planter boxes. I like above ground gardening boxes, 3′ x 6′, and we have 3 of them to do our urban garden with this year…last year’s attempts were feable compared to year’s past…..but Madison and I are up for it this year…we found a greenhouse yard sailing and we have it up and ready for our seedlings to transfer to in late March so we’ll have twice the seed growing space this year!
This week’s goal in healthy choices is to include green salad with every dinner meal. My guys all love simple salads, but it never quite occurs to me to fix them….so meaningful choices this week…..to choose salads each night to go with dinner menus…..not that they are written yet….but that’s later in the day!
Be blessed!

I love french antiques! What a find! Lucky to get the mattress as well!
Good luck on your garden this year.
Salads are very good. Sometimes I will eat 2 a day! I adore 7 layer salad, but it’s a pain to make.
Have a great day!

You will have to post pics of the bed. Aren’t you glad the holidays are behind us and a fresh new year is in front of us? I am.
