We (the royal we as in HE) worked on putting finishes on the furniture we painted this weekend. My job was to say “Wow honey, that looks GREAT!) and to keep the ice water coming. Oh yes, and he mentioned clean socks in his drawers would be nice one day. Dh chose a hand rubbed shellac type finish. He installed a corkboard we upholstered for my office armoire. The very one we bought for $30 in Arkansas a couple of years ago and faithfully served dear daughter in her room as a closet for two years. Now it has a new life as my office drawers, shelves for my fax, my printer, and my notebook files. Dear Husband has put in a few of the improvements behind the door, but they aren’t lined yet, so that’s still coming. I wanted to let you see what a difference the paint and finish made!
The dresser was a bargain as well, $10 I believe is what we paid for it lately. Its from the 1940’s the stuff the 1960’s JcPenney and Ward French Provencial furniture was made to look like. Its taller than that type and heavier, but the finish was not salvageable as was, so we painted it fresh. I.cannot.wait. to have drawers in my bedroom again. Our master bedroom is quite petite (like me someday) and finding appropriate scaled furniture has been an issue. The desk was my dressing table in the last house, but with its drawer space, its going to replace my antique pine desk. I will make curtains to match the corkboard in my office from the leftovers. The drawer pulls still need work but are beautiful if I can get the layers of paint off them…any suggestions??
There you have it, the update from the middle of the redo’s!
God Bless You!

I would just soak the pulls for a while to get the paint off. If that didn't work how about pink glass knobs for pulls. Or the inexpensive wooden knobs painted the pink accent color with a black flower painted on the end. I need to paint something now.

You are not going to believe what I have sitting in my living room….a dresser almost identical to the one you have here!! Mine has six drawers, same kind of legs!! Seeing it painted in black really inspires me to do something different with ours!! Wow! I can't wait to see the "new" office!!!
