Isn’t it the best when you accomplish goals. In our on-going war on #TheTackyBrownHouse the kitchen storage has been the conundrum. We intentionally kept the footprint of the house original, and guess what…in 1956 kitchens were on average 6 x9. Countertops were close to non existent and space was limited as were the choices for tools and dishes in the kitchen. We have plaster walls in the kitchen so choices made are not taken lightly. While drywalling would be relatively inexpensive, the look of the original is our goal with modern conveniences. We moved from a new urban home, our goal was to own a comfortable, peaceful cottage that would be focused more on living life than staging it.
One of the moments of simply living the moment came this weekend with our youngest daughter. Wild roses are popping up in the field and our daughter declared herself rose queen …and we had so much fun gathering, laughing and engaging the moment of what is… the house projects could wait, living is more important than simply getting through the to do list.
As Aaron Paquette would say, our hearts beat only so many moments in our lives…how many we have already spent without the awareness of the value of those moment. An afternoon of making rose crowns, of seeing the royal gifts of our homestead, of knowing that the work still gets done, the chores will happen but this moment, this snapshot of our soon to be grown up going to college daughter matters….and I intend to live every.single.one. I am given the privilege of being witness to.
