Can you believe that August is already here? We’re excited that fall is coming at #TheTackyBrownHouse. This week we had forward progress on the beginning of the big items again. We’re putting in a small fence at the immediate back yard to ease my mind. After two different week long trips with Les out of town I realized when you have heavy growth in the back yard, when you shine a flashlight out there hearing something, well, there’s nothing to bounce against. We had for the last few years passed a fence company on Moulton Road and I called for their quote. American Imperial Fencing was there the next day, but the treat was their manager, Billie, who came to take the measurements. The adventure began! Billie’s a get it done kind of girl who owned the business at one time with her husband. She’s a spry number about twenty years my senior and twice as much vitality! We visited her church this week and loved meeting a few locals.
The fence first day was an adventure. Posts went in great, but ATT wireless left as soon as they did. Oops, the buried line had been marked incorrectly. Two hours later a phone/internet was back up. Thanks ATT!
Tator and Missy became escape artists as the guys worked. They continually broke out of their pen.
We shifted around more furniture and began to make sense of the pieces we have, changing out a bed here a loveseat there. I have not begun to slipcover the newly found pieces (in Madi’s room and the chairs) but that will come on less busy days.
In the process of it all I decided to go back to low carb way of eating. It is a plan that has worked for me in my twenties and despite many other spaces, it is the space that works best for me. I am nearing 50 on the 24th of this month and I intend to make 50 the year of great choices to grow me!
Found a loveseat for $20 at an auction. Henredon, LOVE it. Some day I’ll get the pillows handled, but wanted to take a quick snap for you to see. Can you believe the green matches the room? Found a sleeper one for $10 at another sale. These are important finds for a 1956 home needs much smaller furniture to look appropriate, so we’re delighted to find the great bones and we’ll recover the look to modernize the style.
and I put the toile in the little wooden room, which we call our craft room, but is currently a makeshift office /extra bedroom as we finish the office. I am a long term lover of black and ivory toile. It reminds me of my home in Arkansas and the Southern heritage I share.
Les installed the rooster light fixture we found yard sailing. I am delighted with it as well. It’s been a busy week!
