During the holidays I see so much more pain. It’s almost palatable when I go to a store and see individuals hurting, struggling to choose what they can afford, and/or harried rushing about their day. It seems trouble snowballs in such times, but a word fitly spoken can change the atmosphere with just a word. One of the kindnesses I witnessed during Thanksgiving was a Mom in the grocery store who positioned herself near the turkey’s and shared coupons that gave families $5 off their turkeys. She said “May I share a coupon for your turkey from my family?” I saw shoppers soften in a moment. Hurried, harried folks touched by her simple kindness.
Another sweet moment was a waiting room that had several boxes of Christmas cards on the signin inviting patients and waiting family to fill one or some out and the office would mail them for them. The invitation said “Would you like help getting your Christmas Cards out?” Staff looked upon the white pages internet for addresses needed and at times hand addressed cards for elder patients. So kind.
I believe that our kind words and offerings matter this Christmas. So many folks are facing hardship, lonesomeness, or depression this time of year. Our spouses, our children, our friends, as well as strangers receive the benefit of our kind words. What words can you use today to lift the spirit of the moment?

You are so right, #RAKs – Random Acts of Kindness and affirming words do wonders at any time, and especially during the Holidays which for some carry burdens of heartaches and unmet expectations.
May we all live to lift and we will find our lives lighter and more filled with His Love!
