Monday came early today. Our geriatric lab and her sidekick woke up at 3:30 a.m. upset about something outside, so we did not sleep as well or as long as desired. As much as I love that geriatric lab, I am not as keen on her last pup who has a strong desire to vocalize at the drop of a hat.
The weekend included Madison and Les doing the Huntsville/Decatur AKC dog shows in Priceville and a foray into the local garage sales on the way there. They had a jolly good time and I enjoyed being home, preparing chocolate cheesecakes, and having dinner ready when they arrived home.
I made a huge mistake and cut up onions for homemade chicken and dressing. If one’s doctor says not to do something, it is wise to heed the advice, I cannot tell you how much it hurt to have the onion juice burn my still wounded eyes for hours later….I had become numb to the “don’t do this or this could happen” advice after 10 weeks…and boy oh boy did I remember the lesson in force after experiencing it.
Our oldest son has moved to Oklahoma this weekend. His natural mom lives there, and he simply wants to be closer to her after many years away. He has always lived with his father, and yet there has always been a part of him that yearns to heal that relationship, and so he has gone to work in Oklahoma. We are disappointed, he was laying out of college a semester as he changed schools, and going to Oklahoma means he won’t most likely return without the encouragement to do so…however, I think restoration is always a good thing and this is the time he has before starting a family of his own.
Hunting season begins this weekend and so our younger son will go this weekend to his Dad’s to hunt in Arkansas for the weekend. I know he is excited to be there…its an annual event with his cousins and family.
Last week I learned again why eye makeup, cooking, and risking splashes are still not a good idea…I hope the lessons stick for at least this week!
