Every Monday I work on what I can #15MinuteMiracles where ever I am. The premise is that I set a goal to begin and complete a task I’ve been ignoring or procrastinating about doing it.
Do you imagine tasks are 100 times longer than they take? I did it again today when my family was hanging out thinking about what would sound good for brunch. I imagined making the toasted egg with smoked chicken and gouda cheese sandwiches would take me at least 30 minutes. You know ….t…h…i….r…..t…y….. minutes. (which is not coincidentally more than it would take me to DRIVE into town, but that rarely phases me) Anywho, I hit the kitchen, spent 6 minutes loading and unloading the dishwasher. The timer still said 9 minutes. I started the eggs on top and toast in the oven…6 minutes still remained…well, why not set the table with hydrangeas while I wait since they are right outside the door. Hmmm. The dinger went off just as my family sat to a fab brunch with fresh food, nice setting and they all felt treated.
I can so talk myself into believing that would have taken 300 minutes.
Do you avoid living a life you’d really enjoy because it’s too much trouble?
uh hmm…I seem to be actively avoiding the lovely in my life too often. Working on that!
So today’s challenge: Set the timer for 15 minutes, look around you or think the one thing that is not getting done. For me it’s going to be decluttering my office of extra stuff on Monday. I’ve noticed there are stacks and clutter where it doesn’t belong so tomorrow’s first #15MinuteMiracle is going to be the area to the left of my desk.
I’ll post pictures of before and after so you can share the experience. http://facebook.com/sweetieland You’re welcome to join along and share your pictures too. It may be laundry piles tackled, decluttering done, or a shelf organized. Maybe you need to return a shirt, mail a package or some other task that simply keeps not getting done.
Can’t wait to see what you share and I know I’ll be happier to walk into my small office with less stuff and more peace.
